9 Nov – The “Oz Trick” configuration for QuoteTracker
Nov 9th, 2007 by Trader-15
Tony often compares the e-mini S&P 500 to the S&P 500 Index by manipulating the opening/closing time and duration of the e-mini S&P 500.
The screen capture below shows the same “manipulation” done with the QuoteTracker software.
Top Chart: The “Oz Trick” (Note the Gaps ),
Middle Chart: Normal Daily S&P500 Index,
Bottom Chart: E-mini S&P500 regular hours.
Instructions for setting this up on QuoteTracker is included at the bottom of this post. Enjoy …

Configuration Instructions:
- Open an Intraday Chart
- On the Intraday chart, select “Set Timeframe”, then “Edit Timeframe”. This should open the “Multi-Day Timeframe” Preferences window
- Under ”Timeframes” , select “CME ES,MID – Regular Hrs” and click “Make a Copy”
- In ”Timeframe Settings”, change the Timeframe Name to “Trick”
- In ”Timeframe Settings”, change the Active Market Time to : Start 9:30am, End 4:00 pm and Click OK
- Back at the Intraday Chart, select “Set Timeframe” and choose “Trick”,
- Set the time frequency to 390 min. (control-0 will bring up the window to do this)
- Finally, enter the e-mini S&P code in the Intraday window and voila …. The Oz Trick !
Note:
- You need a registered copy of QuoteTracker to store and display up to 10 days of Intraday data. (unregistered version only display 2 days of intraday data)
- Your data source must be able to supply the 10 days of intraday data.
- For DTN IQFeed, the code for e-mini S&P 500 is : @ES#
Disclaimer:
- This ”trick” configuration for QuoteTracker is ofcourse not identical to that shown by Tony on Realticks. To the extent of my limited knowledge of QuoteTracker, it is a useable close approximation.
- I got the nod from Tony to post this. Thanks Tony.
